My room in Girls and their room Long term project by photographer Jiayue Li @_lijiayue
“Moving all the luggage into the flat, eating, thinking, daydreaming, and crying on that tiny bed.” This project was born from Li’s own lived experience of moving to London alone at 19 and grew into a serialized documentation of girls and their living space as they move away from home to a foreign country. Grils and their room in 2016 and has since amassed over 40 girls living across the world.
This photography series also serves as part of Li’s investigation into their relationship with contemporary cultural globalisation, as it captures the global political and economic changes that have elapsed since the start of the project.
