I began experimenting with color and structure, painting on paper using various mediums such as watercolor, oil paint, oil pastels, and soft pastels. I aim to create different arrangements and experiment with various color combinations.
I’ve always been drawn to the visuals in old cookbooks. There’s something about the way the images are arranged—the careful placement of ingredients, utensils, and dishes—that feels almost like a visual narrative. The colors of the photographs, often faded or warm with age, have a distinct charm that modern images can’t quite replicate. I’m especially fascinated by the textures of the photographs themselves, whether it’s the grainy feel of older prints or the soft, almost tactile quality of food images. The way these elements come together in cookbooks gives me a sense of timelessness and a unique aesthetic that I find inspiring.
